CHINESE FOO DOGS
A larger pair of Chinese foo dogs, exported in the 1950's. The larger of the pair holds a ball in its paw. The smaller figure is depicted with a small dog climbing up its front. In China Foo dogs are powerful mythic protectors that traditionally stood in front of Imperial palaces, govermental offices etc.The male is usually on the right and has his paw on a globe, he is said to guard the structure, while the female fu dog usually plays with her left paw with a cub and is said to protect those inside.
